Sending our condolences to the Ham family from the Phillips.
Lionel worked with my dad, Jim, at Otorohanga Transport.
A memory that I have of Lionel...
Both he and Dad drove a couple of the AEC's.
Lionels exhaust, for whatever reason, blew off.
I was riding with dad and we could hear the roar of that truck traveling behind, back where we were. The noise was incredible.
Lionel being a mischief had to plant the boot in the cockies paddock so all got to experience what he had to put up with lol.
I even got to ride back a ways with Lionel just for the thrill.
The irony to this story,,, I was sharing this very story with my youngest brother, just last week (Tues 29th).
That bloody lionel, still making a lot of noise as he goes.
Back then (if my memory aint too foggy), you lived on the hill, north side of town, along SH3.
Arohamai to the Ham family.
