Maralyn OATEN Obituary

Passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Saturday, 20 September 2025, aged 83 years. Beloved wife of the late Leith. Treasured mother of Daniel, and the late Aaron; loved mother-in-law of Anastasia. With our deepest love and gratitude, we would like to acknowledge the unwavering friendship and support of Rebecca's wonderful friends over many years. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Messages for Rebecca's family may be left via robertcotton.co.nz/funerals. In accordance with Rebecca's wishes, a private family memorial will be held later in the year.

An amazing lady. Raising a disabled child, campaigning for and succeeding in making the wearing of cycle helmets compulsory. Preventing serious injury and deaths of thousands of cyclists and saving the health system millions.

Rebecca was such a special lady. Her passion and dedication to promoting the wearing of cycle helmets was amazing and helped create the law to wear helmets . I worked in Road Safety and Rebecca came to my local schools . She was so pro active and tireless in her work and we became friends . Such a kind and loving woman who was devoted to her family. RIP xxx
