Maria BROOKS Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Taranaki Base Hospital on Saturday 24th January 2026, aged 70 years. Much loved partner of Stephen Blamey (deceased). Much loved daughter of Frank and Colleen (both deceased). Loved sister of Lance Brooks (deceased). Loved sister of Kaye Parkinson and Donald Brooks. Much loved aunty of Rebekah, Benjamin, Samuel, Joshua, Jacob and Kaleb Parkinson.
Much loved aunty of Douglas, Jeffrey and Charlotte Brooks. Much loved great-aunty of her great-nephews and nieces. As per Maria's wishes, a private cremation has been held.

Death leaves heartache no-one can heal,
Memories are treasures no-one can steal.
I will remember you when you are gone,
I will remember you no matter how long.

Love you forever Maria.

Aue taukiri e Brooksy. A tough lady with a gentle heart, a wicked sense of humour and sharp toungue. I should have called in last Friday. I am sorry I missed seeing you. You were always a steady rock for me to swim to when times were tough; you held no judgement, just care and genuine intentions. Give Steve a hug from me and my Gavin too. I was a student of Maria's. Class of 2012. She was an awesome teacher. I always looked forward to cracking a joke with her in Maths class, or a well executed sarcastic remark when someone had an odd question. Rest in Peace, Maria. Sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Such sad news. I knew Maria from school days but we had lost touch. She was always quiet and kind and had a smile for everyone.
