My first memory of Marge was at EHS when she worked in the cafeteria. She seemed to delightfully take a personal interest in people, and I appreciated that when I was growing up. That was the start of a long friendship. How happy I was to hear when Marge became the next door neighbor to my parents, Pearl and Roland White. Marge was the best back door first class neighbor ever. On visits home we had lighthearted conversations on the deck along with dad hair cuts, cards, food, and drinks. Happy hours there with Marge made time stand still. When mom and dad moved away from Emmetsburg, we girls still managed to pay Marge a visit. Marge was a tie to our roots. Now her apron strings are untied, and I envision her blooming elegantly in heaven's garden.

I enjoyed meeting Marge as part of a group of gals who enjoyed "water walking" at the Wellness Center. She was such a special lady and enjoyed by all who knew her!

Marge Schmidt- a true honorary member of the White House! There wasn't a time I arrived home from college or later with my new family in town that she didn't come in the back door- always such a welcome sight and big hug! She was my mother Pearl's best friend and confidant! She handled Whitey, my father, like a champ! Cutting his hair, keeping him in line, giving him neighborly advice on his lawn and when Dad got a little forgetful Marge, respectfully kept him in check. We loved her so much! She had the best positive outlook on life and gave THE best hugs! Thank you Marge for being the best darn neighbor, friend, angel and BOSS we all cherished!

I so loved spending time with Marge when we belonged to the Curlew card club. It was called Sit and Chat Club where we played “Hand and Foot”. She had a great smile and a happy way about her. She served so many great foods when she hosted our group. She will be missed by many.

Steve, Keith, Kevin, and Renee and your families,
So very, very sorry to see this! I have so, so many fond memories of working with Marge at EHS!! We used to take that school pickup down to Kunz’s Locker and pick up food we had to store there because we didn’t have enough freezer space at school. She always drove, because her driving a straight stick was much smoother than mine! So many laughs over the 10 years I worked with her!! Loved working with her!!
I know you will miss her terribly, but no one can take away all your precious memories from all the years you were lucky enough to have her in your lives! Treasure tham!
So sorry I won’t be able to make her funeral. You have my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy!
