Maurice MCKENNA Obituary
Maurice Francis (Spike):
Peacefully on 3rd July 2018 after a short illness at Te Rangimarie Hospice, with Jackie by his side. Aged 66 years. Soulmate and husband of Jackie (previously Johns). Loved father of Kate and Cain Goodin, Rick, and Tim and Amy. Loved Granddad of Ruby, Poppy, Harri; Aria, Dante, and Mia. Loved son of the late Gary and Patricia. Loved brother of Sharleen and Wayne Robinson (and the late Ian Holdem), Conal McKenna and Mandy Down, Lyncia and Kevin Podmore, and Gareth and Stephen Hughes. A much loved uncle to many. Loved "Spike" to the Johns Family, Blair, Bronwyn, Ella, Lily, and Ruby. Spike is at home for family and friends to visit.
A service to celebrate Spike's life will be held in St Joseph's Catholic Church, Victoria Street, Hawera, on Friday 6th July 2018 at 1.00pm, followed by a private cremation.

Condolences to Jacky and family , was only like yesterday that the 4 of us headed off to the big Island and ended up in Melbourne, Feb 1974 Spike had been before so we did all the things he recommended, had a few beers and played a bit of rugby , and this was what Spike was quite good at , glad we caught up recently , good Kiwi sadly missed .

To all the McKenna family I would like once again, through the use of the Guest Book that the Taranaki Daily News makes available, to express my sympathy this time on the very recent death of Maurice.
It does not seem so long ago that you were all giving a final farewell to Patricia.
About ten years ago I was very happy to meet Maurice again when his son was playing rugby at FDMC.
May the Good Lord now welcome Maurice home with outstretched arms.
