Peacefully at Radius Thornleigh Park Rest Home, New Plymouth on Sunday 4th January, 2015. Dearly loved partner of Jean Kallock (USA). Brother of Sidney and the late Donald. Loved father and father-in-law of Allan and Norel (Australia), Lorraine and Darren (Kapiti), David and Katy (New Plymouth). Dearly loved grandfather of Daniel, Michael, Thomas, Samantha, Tony and Sharmayne, and great-grandfather of Tianee, Bella, Roharn and Elijah. Messages can be sent to the Skurr Family, C/- PO Box 4016, New Plymouth. A service for Maurice will be held in the Remembrance Chapel of W. Abraham, 10 Swans Road, Bell Block on Friday 9th January, 2015 at 12.00pm.

So sorry to hear of your sad loss we all remember Maurice with great affection when he stayed with us here in the UK. His regular letters and cards kept us in touch with his life and family happenings.We knew he was not in the best of health but did not know where he was living.
I am Christine daughter of Maurice's cousin Phyllis.Mum's mother was Lily Simmons younger sister of May and Millie.My daughter Katy did try and see
Maurice when she visited NZ but he was not at home.
We are all thinking of you and send our deepest condolences from New Barn Farm.

We are very sorry to hear that Maurice has passed away. He was a real character who will be remembered fondly as we were lucky to have a reunion with him not so long ago. Our condolences to the family from the Skurr family (Lawrence – son of the late Don Skurr, Tim, Jon and Mark) in Christchurch.

Quite by chance I saw the death notice for Maurice Skurr in the DomPost today. I spoke to Maurice by phone once and learned of his extended visits to USA. I am a descendent through my mother of the North Canterbury Skurrs who lived at Carleton east of Oxford from about 1880. I have visited the Parish Church and Skurr grave at Dacre, Cumbria, UK on four occasions. My condolences on the loss of one who obviously lived a full and eventful life. Graeme McIver
