So sorry to the passing of Mell,right from the time we arrived at Pohokura in 73,Mell was one of the quiet but district greats who we all looked up to as a country gent with good sound advice and understanding.so sorry we missed the day,

Very sorry to hear of Melvie's passing, and wishing Leone, and all of the Smith family my sincere condolences. I will remember Melvie as the nicest man to have as a neighbour and to work for and with, whether shearing, fencing, or in the hay paddock he always did more than his share. A true and kind gentleman.
