Dear Mrs Luxton and family,
I was in Parliament from 1996 to 2005 as a member of the Alliance
John and I were on opposite political sides. But I remember his courteousness, approachability and that he always respected opposing views- and ours were certainly often that! But we shared a common regard for human rights and both held the view that public service was both a responsibility and a privilege. When we had both left Parliament he assisted me with a number of projects He will be remembered by his fellow MPs, from all parties, as someone who served New Zealand well.
