Nancy Board Obituary

Nancy Gillespie Board, 87 currently from Murphy, NC passed away on February 3, 2026. She was surrounded by family and passed peacefully in her home.

Born in Charleston, WV on 1/10/37, she was preceded in death by her father Lawrence B. Gillespie, her mother Cleo Captola Swindler Gillespie, and her son Edward "Chip" Board, II.

She passed 12 days shy of her 68th wedding anniversary to the love of her life Edward H. Board. Surviving along with Eddie are her daughters Jamie Beck (Colby), Julie Hearne (Harry), grandson Brandon Board (Carlyn), granddaughters Emma Glandt (Daniel Gavrilovski) and Allyson Glandt (Jake Sunde) and two great grandchildren Edward Orion Board and Kinsleigh Rae Board.

Nancy loved being a wife, a mom and a granny. She and her mom ran a 40 acre farm in WV from 1970-1990. Nancy loved to feed people, garden, read and nurture her Christian faith.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for May 14, 2026 in Brasstown, NC.
