It was sad to hear of Nathan passing. My condolences to Nathans family members on this sad ocassion. I haven't seen Nathan or his parent since the 1970's when I was a young boy. my mum would arrange for me to stay at Les and May farm during the school holidays. I remember Nathan well as a nice easy going person. I have often wondered what happen to this side of the family over the years. We are distantly related to each other.

Nathan was well known by many of our passengers, he loved the tours he joined with us. He was always full of facts & figures which we could often add to our commentary. His love of books was well noted with many bags collected throughout his tours. Nathan you are still asked after often, may you now be free to continue your journeys. You will be remembered.

My apologies. The story about the bus.. when we got to the Hawera Water Tower we had maybe 45 minutes before having to leave again, not 90. It was only long enough to have a drivers 30 minute break leave the Tower, go get Nathan, go to hospital pick up freight back to water Tower pick up passengers then leave. For Nathan it was another adventurous day for him. Well done Nathan I'd say to him. Well done.

Nathan, a unique man who would bring a gift of fruit when visiting, we would sit him down with a drink and his nervousness would bring a torrent of words, after a while he would calm down and share his experiences . He had the memory of an elephant and more intelligent than most realised.
The same age as a certain President , but i believe Nathan's soul was superior.

With much respect to your family Nathan I send my condolences at this sad time. Perhaps some remember meeting the bus on Egmont Street as you'd return from a day out shopping. One day the bus delayed by road works on our way to Hawera. Nathan was off to the book fair at St Joseph's school. We had maybe 90 minutes before leaving to return to NP. He walked from the Water Tower to St Joe's. I told him wait there for the bus I will come pick you up. Sure enough he'd done his dash and was waiting with his bags full. Nathan often spoke about his travels, his life. I'd hear some, but not all, as I'd be focused most of all getting him safely back to Egmont Street.
I bid you farewell Nathan and God Bless.
