Sad to hear that Neil passed. I caught up with him at his home in the Coromandel about 3 years ago.Hadnt seen him for many years so had a lot of catching up to talk about both ways.I still remember as kids (70 odd years ago) the visits up the Kina Rd and would all eye each other up have lunch and starting to become mates and cuzzies when the roar would come from the olds saying in the car cos we are off home to milk the cows. Our Clarry generation is starting to get depleted.Bugger!!!
Sending our love and kind regards to you all at this sad time.Ross & Pat Clarry Tauranga

I loaned Niel my Flounder net and he had it for about 6 months. We went fishing with him and he was too smart not to drag the net. Instead he got Dave our neighbour to do it. Didnt catch a thing but it was so much fun with the old boys joking around and coming home empty handed. Ive always liked Neil for his honesty and kind hearted nature. He would always give us his perfectly smoked snapper of kahawai and always good for a catch up. He hated one of the neighbor's up the road. Thought he was stealing his pumpkins at 4 in the morning. We are going to miss our lovely neighbour. Last of the true old school guys. All our condolences to the family

Neil was a good mate for 16 years sharing our mutual love of fishing, and cleaning fish and boat, and sharing his fish with neighbours . A guy who put out buckets full of feijoas for neighbours to help themselves. We enjoyed bantering rubbish to each other, but also watching his garden grow. If you can't eat it, don't plant it, as he constantly regaled. Lots and lots of memories collecting firewood from the beaches, and bartering fish for firewood. The list goes on. Thanks for the memories Neil.
