Dear Brendon, I would like to express my deep sadness at the passing of your father, Neville. He was a wonderful man who worked with all aspects of our community: for example installing curtains in the kaumatua flat of my late aunt, Nereaha Stirling. He was authentic, and completely understoon those who challenged the system, and accommodated collegial participation in official conversations. Please receive my love, and to all your family. Arohanui, Marama [Laurenson]

Nga mihi mahana me te mihi aroha ki a koutou

We are so sad at the passing of your Dad and husband. Neville's commitment to Maori over decades has been amazing. A great mind, a unique and strategic thinker and most of all a considerate and decent human being. I will miss Neville and his wise head and wise advice. Arohanui the Nesus Whanau xx
