I was just thinking of some of the people I had met in my life and searched Owens name. We were co workers offshore and friends as he lived a few blocks from me. I recall him asking me if I had a hammer and saw, I said yes and took them over. He was busy building an add-on to his house, looks up and says "you got a hammer and saw, why don't you give me a hand". So I did.
My belated condolences to the family

Owen got me my start in the oilfield in the North Sea in 1976. I was working as a steward on the Montrose Alpha platform at the time because I couldn't get a rig job. He said "What are you doing in this s...job?" I told him I couldn't get a job outside. He said "Go into the office when you get off, and tell them I said to hire you". He was breaking the rules by doing that. I spent the next 10 years in the oilfield in various parts of the world. Owen was a top guy.
