I´m very saddened to hear of Paul´s passing. I grew up in New Plymouth knew Paul many years ago when I lived there. Paul was a very kind and insightful person, he was a very good man. I only wish I had seen him win recent years. My sincere heartfelt condolences to Paul´s family.

Paul's passing saddens Wayne and me. We had some awesome trips to Turangi, day trips fishing the Stony, and the odd evening surf-casting with a BBQ meal.

Our thoughts to Robyn and families on the passing of Paul. On behalf of the Taranaki Rock & Mineral Club we send our sincere condolences to you all. We have had two wonderful trips to view Paul's most amazing fossil collection. He will be sadly missed by everyone who enjoyed this interest with him.

Well Paul you will no doubt be checking the heavenly Trout streams. I first met Paul over 42 years back at Lake Mangamahoe, i was new to Taranaki but it was not long before i was fishing around the rivers. That day at the lake i found a good friend and a real character, Paul had his trousers held up with a bit of baler twine! Not only did we fish together but also worked together around the port, Paul worked with me on the Ericson reefer ships inspecting meat cargoes for damage. I always admired Paul for giving up full time employment to take care of his young family, by all accounts the children got fed plenty of trout, i think they went off it a bit. We also worked on New King Tanker Terminal and if was visiting a tanker i would always make a point of calling to see the Superintendent and if it was Paul then it was easy to spend an hour talking fishing in between phone calls and radio traffic. When i lost my dear Deb to Cancer 4 years back Paul came along to the funeral, despite not being too well himself. I will have to check the photo albums for the weigh in photos, we held a lot of them in my garage in the days of the North Taranaki Rod and Gun Club, Paul was also in the Daily News one year for the winning fish. We still talk about the Salmon he caught down at the Normanby Dam that was a trully big fish. Condolences to all his family i will be there for Paul on Friday.
