Roger AUSTIN Obituary

So sorry to read of Roger´s death. I fondly remember Roger and Bruce as laboratory technology trainees at Dunedin Hospital many years ago. We certainly had a lot of laughs in those days.

Got a shock to see Roger had passed. He taught me everything about Imunohaematology when I trained at Taranaki Base laboratory as a med lab scientist. He was well regarded in his field and passionate about his work. I will never forget those days and how well it stood me for future careers. We had a lot of fun at work as well as worked hard. Thinking of you Glenys at this sad time.

I am currently away so unable to attend Roger's funeral. Thinking of you all at this time. I worked with Roger at the hospital and particularly enjoyed our time together on the Path Project. Roger had such a lovely sense of humour & contributed greatly to the team. He was such a proud Dad. I know these last few years have been tough for Roger & you all.

I have such fond memories of Roger. When I started work in the Taranaki Base Hospital Laboratory in 1976, Roger was Charge Technologist of Blood Bank.
It was my first department to work in and I was very anxious about my new workplace. Roger put me at ease and was a very good teacher.
He was great fun with all of our lab social events. I can recall progressive dinners with one course at the Austin´s. And attending shows at The Opera House.
