Rosalie Markle Obituary

Rosalie K. “Rose” Markle, formerly of Carlton, Pa, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, November 10, 2025 at her home in Meadville. She was 82.

She was born in Oak Ridge, Pa on January 24, 1943 to Eugene E. and Ruby M. Shaffer Shick.

Rose earned her associates degree in business from Penn State University had worked for over 32 years at Polk Center where she began in the dietary department and had worked her way up to facility director when she retired.

She was a member of the Milledgeville Presbyterian Church.

Rose was always about family, especially grandchildren, her church and working. She wasn’t an idle person and was always looking to care for others.

Rose married Melvyn K. Markle, October 21, 1960 and he preceded her in death May 16, 2013. She is survived by two daughters: Melanie (Pete) Davis, Polk, Pa and Regina (David) Lenhart of Guys Mills, Pa. Also four grandchildren: Gavyn (Amber) Korinko, Landin (Lily) Karns, Ryan Gilliland and Breah (Justin) Vetter; five great-grandchildren: Maverick, Gracelyn and Charlotte Vetter and Connor and Logan Gilliland. Also two sisters: Patricia (Boyd) Travis and Kathy Miller.

Preceded in death by: Parents, husband and a great-granddaughter Harlow Vetter.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., of Stoneboro and Sandy Lake.  A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday (11-15-25) at Milledgeville Cemetery with Rev. Brian Ennis, officiating. Following the service everyone is invited to a luncheon at the Milledgeville Presbyterian Church 1425 Carlton Road, all are welcome to come and share and celebrate Rose’s life.
