One of those intangibles that don't appear in the adverts for real estate but add enormous value... good neighbours!
Russell and Gail have been fantastic neighbours to me.
Russell kept the most immaculate lawn and vege garden, always generous with excess produce. I'd get the call from over the fence "Are ya there Heather?!" and a clutch of tomatoes or potatoes would be offered up. He would pop over with his nap-sack every now and then - "I'll just do a bit of spraying for you". In truth, it was probably to hold back the horrors of my jungle from invading his beautiful gardens. Embarrassing for me but appreciated none the less.
He was unbelievably hard-working and kind, and always with a smile and ready laugh.
Russell, I hope you are at peace now.
I will miss you dear friend and neighbour.
To Gail, and Scott and family, my heart goes out to you all.
Please look after each other and remember the good times you have shared.

Great man Russell, Lots of fun and laughter along with Micky Bourke and the other boys from the Hawera Senior 3rd rugby team when Russell coached us in the early 80's. Along with the fun Russell also had a great knowledge of Rugby and was not a fan of losing .... anything or anytime ! Always great to catch up with Russell over the years and every time a fair bit of banter was thrown. RIP my old mate
