With great sorrow we learn of the passing of Sandy Southcombe. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family. I was privileged to be one of them and will miss the visits and special calendars given each year. He was certainly 'old school' and cannot be replaced, but will be remembered by everyone who knew him.

RIP Sandy.
First saw Sandy in action in the early 70's moving a house from Smart Road. The 66 Pontiac Laurentian staff car with those cop lights on top always stuck in my memory. Then I bought one too!
I'm sure Sandy will be looking down with a chuckle and a grin, leaning against an International truck.
A gentlemen and someone for the younger generation to look up to.

Sincere condolences to Sandys family.
He shifted the Williams woolshed for my father on the Newall Road in the 60s and shifted many buildings for us, one even 3 times. Sandy never saw a problem in his business only solutions. He had the ability to have good people and capable staff around him. He will be sadly missed RIP Sandy

Dear Sandy you have been a huge part of my life for 65 years. I treasure the times we have spent together especially in the later years when your health deteriorated. Filling in the gaps in our conversation was always a challenging game we played. At times neither of us were good at it but we could always have a good laugh. I would say to you don't forget my name cause I will never forget yours. Love you heaps going to miss you. Lynn, Bruce and all the Salle family PS. Give big hug to Peter, Kaye, & Nicci.

Sad news to hear of the passing of Sandy
Sandy was an absolute legend
Whom brought so much excitement into our lives as children in central coastal & south Taranaki as he diligently developed & grew his building relocating business
He articulated happily with all ages and will be remembered with a deep fondness for many
A man whose life story and insights deserve to be preserved for posterity

you & Tyson were privileged to share time with him in his later years where his wit and foresight into the industry he loved will be his great gift to you

Use it wisely
He did do enjoy seeing you both
To the Southcombe family

Sandy Southcombe. I was a kid in the days your yard in Opunake on the corner of Allison and Tasman streets. To see your International loaded and you in the pilot car I'd say a Chevrolet leading the way. Taranaki colors perhaps amber n black. Offloading and setting up the prefabs at OHS 1982 watching your crew swinging off the jacks. And your mum in her days horse and jig.. Great memories of you and your family Sandy. Sincere condolences to Alan and all the mokopuna.

Condolences from the Inglewood Motors family. The stories and gravely voice will certainly be missed, as well as discussions about International trucks. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend Sandy´s send off but I´m sure the stories will make the celebration worthy of him.

Larger than life, a great human and great storyteller. I was retelling a story just last week of how you helped me out and trusted me as a stranger 24 years ago, "we live on an island" "you've come all the way from Africa, I'm sure you're not going anywhere" I can still smell the cigarette smoke on my hand after one of those solid handshakes. Rest well friend, and thanks.

Sandy, what a legend, his stories so good (but long) my wife wouldn't let me call in if she was in the car. His trucks, his cars, the man lived a life. Sad to see you go Sandy but I'm sure you'll find a twin stick RF195 to drive wherever you've gone.

To Alan, Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing, Fond memories of him moving all the Dairy Factory houses into my neighbourhood in the early 1970s when they built the Whareoa Plant. My late brother and I used to love watching them do the job and he would chat to us. We were the last house in McGuire Street up to that point.

My deepest sympathy to all the family. Sandy has been a big part of my life for the past 8 years. All the chats we had, all the stories he told, he certainly had a lot of those. He taught me a lot about house moving and I´m so glad that he´s been part of my life and a close friend. A kind man to me and he loved my dog Tyson who grew up around him. He´ll be missed by me and many others. Love Carol
