Shane HERBERT Obituary

18 March 1955 - 20 August 2025

Shane was taken into the hands of our lord on Wednesday at 9.30pm. Peacefully at his home in Oakura overlooking the ocean and enjoying his final sunset. Loved brother of Sally & Peter (Herb). Dearly missed son of Laurel Spence (nee Herbert) and Tom Herbert (d 1982). Loved father of Jackson & Andie. Loved Grandad of Lukali and Finnlay. Many cousins and friends are grieving. A private family cremation has been held. A public & family farewell/remembrance/shindig is to be held at Butlers Reef Hotel, Oakura, on 6th September 2025 at 2.00pm. All welcome. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice Taranaki would be appreciated in Shane's name. We wish to state our appreciation to Hospice for their fantastic service & compassion.

Yesterday

Sending our condolences to Shane's extended family. Shanes law firm was located upstairs in our building for many many years. I will always remember on a Friday night after closing listening to him play his grand piano. I admired his skills and everytime I hear a piano now it will remind me of him.

Rest in peace Shane.

From us all at the New Plymouth NZ Automobile Association.

Shane, you were not the result of "cookie cutter" law school, you preferred to look at things through your own unique lens. That meant that it was always a pleasure to deal with you. Even on those occasional times when we didn´t necessarily agree, you always took the time to explain your reasons and all the while there was never an egg timer running. You will be sorely missed by all those who relied on the mix of your expertise and great humour. Roland Lina.
