I´m very sorry to hear of Stan´s passing. I´m in Hawera at the moment for Xmas and New Year and was looking forward to popping in and seeing him.
Stan and Shirley were loved neighbours of our family.(Although I´m not sure Stan was that keen on the cricket balls that kept going into his fence!)
Our back section in Dives Avenue backed onto Stan and Shirley´s property so the 3 boys used to love playing cricket down the back with their friends.
Stan and Shirley always made me feel so welcome so popping in for a cup of tea or brandy became quite a regular habit.
Two lovely souls now resting in peace. You will be truely missed.
Much love from the Dives Avenue Burgess´s Xx

To Alan Gail & your family's, So sorry to read the passing of Your Dad & Grandad, Stan was well known when both your late mother Shirl & Stan lived in the Matapu area for many yrs, & all the tricks that all those Matapu guys got up to. Well respected @ the golf course, & of course, my late parents spending lots of time with your late parents & my mother having alot to do with Shirl through the church society, Jan sisterinlaw will now be lost as she called on Stan every day & spent hrs with him. My thoughts go out to you all @ this very sad time for you all.
