Since our days riding dirt bikes at Denby road to our days together in the motor trade and our years in the STUC Steve has been a great friend. Our sincerest sympathy go out to Steve's family and friends. "As good as they get" is how one friend described Steve, a very accurate assessment of a great man.

Heartfelt condolences to the Hornby family.
An awesome friend to us both for many years, we have many special memories to cherish. If there was one word to describe Steve that word could only be 'integrity'. What a much better place the world would be if there were more people like Steve. We will never forget you Steve.

On behalf of the Fisheries Compliance team, I just want to acknowledge and thank Steve for over 20 years of tireless service to the fishing sector, New Zealand public and the New Zealand government in his work as an Honorary Fishery Officer. Steve had a never wavering eagerness to do all he could to preserve the NZ fishery.
He was an absolute delight to work with, I will really miss his smiling face and sense of humour.
