To Ngaire and Family
So very sorry to hear about Toms passing. Our visit last year becomes more special. Even though we didn't spend a lot of time with you both the time we did was good. Tom's smile will always be remembered along with his gentle nature and his singing. Our thoughts are with you Ngaire. Sincere sympathy. Wendy and Gary Quarterman

Thomas.
A homegrown icon has bowed out. A bro of the respected Broughton whanau in Harbour street Moturoa. Our memories are long from past beginnings with families forcefully removed from humble dwellings on the beach in depression days.
The community bonds held maintained by close links.
In typical Broughton tradition Tommy played sport: scrag after school, soccer NPBHS 1st X1, Waterside, NPOB, and Moturoa. League at Waterside, and star pitcher for Cardinals softball. As a kid he would swim out to boats moored off the beach and be first to climb the masts. One of the big kids in the gang, you gave no lip. Tree-climbing at school, always had to be highest up the pohutukawa. Tommy worked at Burkes Shoe factory in Otaka St Moturoa, later a wharfie. In those social catchups Tommy without fail had that trademark smile before the laugh, just like Joe and especially Walla before. A big hello to all whanau and friends.
Haere Tommy, you leave a huge hole. Thanks for the memories.

Thinking of you Ngaire and all the family as you as you navigate the loss of Tom. Such a wonderful man, his smile would light up the room, he always had kind words to say and always made time to say hello and ask after the family. So sorry to hear that this might totara has fallen. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time.
