What a positive influence Tom had on the young men of the James Harvest 1st XV'S of 1970,71 &72 who were privileged to have had Tom as their Rugby Coach. Tom inspired us to believe that our co-ed school could play very good Rugby and some very fine players had their careers started by Tom.
Thanks Tom rest easy.

Tom was my husband's teacher in his early teaching at SBHS and I was his colleague at JHHS. He "volunteered" his 1st XV to be pirates and policemen to support Tom's Sergeant of Police in Pirates of Penzance (JHHS) in 1974. It introduced many young men to the fun of amateur musicals and we built on this for many years afterwards. Our sincere condolences to all your family. He will be much missed.

Dear Joan, Paul and family,
Sincere condolences on Tom's passing.
Farewell Tom, and thank you for your leadership. NPBHS was my first school as a teacher and you led a tight ship with the boys' learning and discipline uppermost in your mind. On your rounds around the school grounds you were determined for there to be not a skerrick of rubbish, ordering the boys to pick up and place anything nearby into the closest bin while also setting an example by picking up and disposing of items yourself. This practice became a habit for staff as well, and, to this day I cannot walk past rubbish in the street without stopping to remove it. I also remember the time you accompanied me and a group of boys to Japan. The boys were with their host families and you and I were heading back to the Yamada's place on the train. You were to do this by yourself the following day, so this was a practise run for you to get off at the correct stop. It had been a long day and you dozed off missing our stop entirely...... needless to say you did manage the next day.... thanks again and may you Rest In Peace. Adele Scott (staff - 1988-1993)
