Valerie DEAKIN Obituary

I am so sad to hear of Val´s passing. She was a truly remarkable woman. I will always carry with me the life and lessons she taught, and the love of dance she instilled in me. She gave so much to so many, and her legacy will live on in every dancer she taught and every story she helped bring to life. Rest in peace Val.

Carol and I were very sorry to hear of Val's passing.
Many fond memories of stage hand work under Val's tutelage at the State Theatre, the NP Opera House and once at the Eltham Town Hall (plus putting up the advertising signs!) during the time our eldest was attending the Dance Theatre.
Val was a great teacher and inspiration to many.

Very sorry to hear of Val´s passing Val taught our daughters ballet and now Jane teaches our Grandaughter their teaching is always relaxing and fun at the same time professional we will always be grateful for the happy times and the shows were always much fun. Our deepest condolences Jane Xo

Wonderful fun memories of my time in the Nutcracker suite twice. She instilled confidence, poise. Being part of a greater team taught us how to work with all people and respect all at a young age. Thank you for life lessons

Our two girls learn't dancing from Val and Jane back in the 80's, we lived in Hawera. They were both excellent teachers. Our eldest daughter Miriam still dances. Our sympathy to you Jane in your loss.

Saddened by this news and all my sympathy to Jane and the Deakin family. I enjoyed classes back in 1983-86 before commitments took me away. Val and Jane were excellent teachers and improved my coordination incredibly. RIP Val. Sorry I cannot make Saturday's memorial as I am working and cannot get time off. - Paul Peters

So sorry to hear this sad news. Val taught my daughter Kelsey in the late 1990s and early 2000s. A wonderful, talented lady, now at rest.

Thank you for all you did for my dance career and my family. Fond memories of the rehearsals at the Scout Den, touring to Palmerston North, Numerous Nutcrackers, Coppelias and various others, meals at Oakura and of course your beautiful fur babies. Great friendships and beautiful memories. One can never thank you enough. I´m sure you are already rehearsing all the Angels in their Celestial dance. Please give my Mum a hug from me.
