My condolences to Val´s family. Val was my cousin on the Gartner side. John and Val used to visit my mum Zeta Rowe (nee Gartner). Funnily enough, many years ago, my dad Ivan Rowe was working at the tote at the races and got talking to another worker who turned out to be John. When we still lived in New Plymouth, I used to sometimes see Val up the street and have a chat.
