From the Power Station through to Synfuels and then Methanex, We did a lot together. From Softball to Rugby, your views, opinions and zest for winning could be challenging but were never far off the mark. My bosses trusted me with dismantling 125 megawatt generators and you were the only crane operator I trusted to help get the job done. I still would. Big jobs, small jobs, you had a finesse with machinery that gendered trust. You knew them and they did whatever you asked of them.
We all liked you Wayne, we trusted you and you always made things in work and matesmanship, that little bit more enjoyable. What a bloke, what a lovely genuine bloke. So glad to have been in your company Wayne. Go well our friend.
Arohamai Caro to you and your family. Disco nights at the Power Station were always fun with you guys. Arohanui. Sam, Malia and whanau.

My deepest sympathy to Carolyn, Tony, Alana.
I have many great memories of working with Wayne from the early Synfuels days through to Methanex. Wayne was a humble leader and a bloody good workmate.
Our Sunday night social volleyball games wouldn´t have been nearly as enjoyable without Wayne´s passion and encouragement to win but always with his big smile and great sportsmanship.
Gone far too soon.
Rest in peace mate.
Geoff.

So very sad, & shocked to hear of Wayne's passing. He was a real "Kiwi bloke", a character, loved a beer & a joke with his mates, a hard worker, with a get up & go attitude, in all he did. He was staunch member of the Tukapa Club & loved the game. A great friend, who will be sadly missed. On behalf of the Mcleod family, my thoughts, condolences & much Aroha to Carolyn & the Penn Whanau at this sad time. RIP Wayne mate. ("Horse" Mcleod)
