William OKEY Obituary

Shocked to hear of Billys passing. Unfortunately only just heard the sad news and missed the send-off.
We shared many good times ; partied hard, surfing, road trips etc. great memories. Whenever we did catch up it was always just like 'yesterday'. Billy's happy, smiling, fun attitude to life, a genuine 'Good Buggar'.
You have probably already had a few laughs with the passed crew; Lindsay, Grinner etc. Rest easy Mate!

I was possibly your first apprentice in 1982 and I worked with you for 2 1/2 years.

I have great memories of the times we shared Billy. Golfing, surfcasting, white baiting, trout fishing and darts. Camping up at waikawau tunnel, campfire burning thick whitebait fritters on fresh white bread. It wont be the same mate. Sleep well my friend.

It is very sad to hear of your passing Billy, I met you seven years ago when Garry introduced us at the New Plymouth Sport Fishing & Underwater Club. Once you figured me out we developed a good friendship. Your humorous character and your sense of humor will be missed by many at the club.

Very sad to see this, I had a lot of fun playing cricket with Billy at Westown. Feared and adored uncle' - that made me smile, sums him up well! Rest in Peace Billy... I'm sure you're giving an earful to whoever it was up there that put their finger up and give you out.... At least it wasn't Guppy this time!

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to William (Billy) Ross Okey. Much loved brother-in-law of Sue (Buffy) Okey, bonus brother-in-law of Graeme Parkinson, adored uncle of Kendall, Simone and Tania.
Forever loved, greatly missed.

Westown Golf Club is saddened at the passing of Billy Okey who has been a very involved and dedicated member/volunteer of the club for over 20 years. He will be missed immensely by all our members. Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Club members attending funeral are asked to wear club shirts/jerseys.

OKEY, Billy:
The New Plymouth Sportfishing and Underwater Club acknowledges the recent passing of Billy (William) Okey. Billy was a long standing and well known member of the Club. Billy will be missed, and we share our condolences with the friends and family of Billy. Our clubrooms are available from 3.00pm each day for anyone that wants to come down to the club, including following Billy’s Service on Friday afternoon.
