Bruce joined the Taranaki Citroen Car Club in 1998. At Club meetings Bruce often related, with humour, tales of motoring difficulties that he and Helen overcame with sheer grit and determination. His tenacity was no plainer than when he moved house, making no fewer than 45 individual trips with a trailer between Hawera and Eltham. As a supportive Club member Bruce produced fundraisers by hand knitting many scarves with Chevrons and the model of a Citroen worked into the pattern, many of these have become treasured items and sometimes seen displayed at car shows.
The Club remembers Bruce as a person who was always willing to do his share and never afraid to put his hand up. In 2017, Bruce was awarded Life Membership of the Taranaki West Coast Citroen Car Club.
Rest easy Bruce.
