Roger Young Obituary

Cherished husband, father, brother and grandfather Roger Young went on to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on June 20, 2025, after a year's battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 74.
Born in California to Sid and Dot Young, Roger attended schools in Riverside before joining the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was on the USS Ranger and at the China Lake Naval Center.
After the Navy, he worked for Ideal Fence Company and left to work in heavy construction in Orange, Riverside, Los Angeles and San Diego counties. He continued in construction becoming a mason. Later, he worked for the Morongo Unified School District in ground maintenance and finally totally retired from working with his job at the Hi-Desert Star in the distribution department.
Even in his "down" time Roger tried to stay busy working on various projects for family and friends. He liked talking about history and politics. Roger enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and going to Big Bear.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Sabrina; children Wade Young (Heather) and Alyse Wilkinson (Josh); grandchildren Amelia, Wyatt, Wesson, Evie, Jynevieve, Ember, Alric and Roy; sister June Harris; in-laws Richard and Sally Benjamin; brother-in-law Reed Benjamin (Eileen); and eight nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel.
