Regina (Williams) Cary, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the St. Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich, RI.

Born on July 23, 1935, in Springville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Sigmon and Syble (Middleton) Williams. Regina was predeceased by her first husband, Gene Coley, in 1967. Together, they shared the joy of welcoming their daughter. In time, she found love again with David Cary, and they spent 40 cherished years together filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

A proud graduate of Jacksonville State University, Regina earned her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. She was a gifted seamstress and needlework artist, always finding joy in working with her hands. Her creativity and precision extended beyond fabric-she had a sharp mind and was famously unbeatable when it came to crossword puzzles, especially those from The New York Times.

Throughout her life, Regina gracefully embraced the roles of officer's wife and professor's wife, supporting David through his military and academic careers. She especially enjoyed attending events at Jacksonville State University, where she made lasting friendships and memories.

Rooted in the values of her Southern upbringing, Regina carried herself with grace and charm. She was proud of her heritage and was a dedicated member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

She is survived by her loving daughter, Carrie Coley Bettencourt, and her husband William, of East Greenwich, RI. In addition to her husbands, Gene and David, Regina was predeceased by her brothers Harold, Gerald, and Thomas Williams.

In honor of Regina's generous spirit, memorial donations may be made to one of her favorite causes, Meals on Wheels. Remembrances may be made at carpenterjenks.com.
