Gary Lathrop Obituary
May 14, 1955 - May 22, 2025
Gary Maurice Lathrop passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 in Santa Rosa, CA surrounded by his wife, children, close family, and dogs. Born May 14, 1955 in Berkeley, he was the beloved son of Edward and Lola Lathrop and brother to Paula (deceased), Carol, and Eric.
Gary shared 36 years of marriage with Marianne Keegan Lathrop, raising two children, Elena and Henry, and welcoming daughter-in-law Stephanie into the family.
He worked as a lineman at PG&E for 43 years, retiring in 2018 without a serious injury, a testament to his care and grit. A standout athlete, his 4:19 mile time still stands as a San Marin High School record. He later found joy in ice hockey, music, model trains, and cheering on the Giants and Sharks.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 20, 10:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bennett Valley Golf Course. All are welcome.

I´m so sorry to hear of Gary´s passing. Growing up, I went to the same church and was in the same grade as Gary through Jr High and High School. He was a very nice person. Sending my sincere condolences to the Lathrop family.

I will always remember Gary forever. I worked with him a lot especially on the Manfire crew! A very funny man and a family man as well. He never every song I could ever think of, every sports question there was. Will miss you and we will meet again

So sorry for your loss. I worked with Gary at PG&E. He was one of my favorite crew Foremans to work with and I still cherish the many conversations we had in the DO shack. His casual appearance and demeaner belied his depth of intelligence, knowledge and humor. He made me laugh during the most tense and stressful times with his dry, witty sense of humor, even at three in the morning. I/we could always count on Gary to be the calm, clear thinking man that got the job done during the storms. He was a peaceful man on earth as I'm sure is now and for eternity. Again, so very sorry for your loss.
