John Allan Jones
John Allan Jones, age 74, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 18, 2025 in Santa Rosa, Ca after a 17 month battle with cancer. Born in Cheyenne, WY in 1950 to a military family John traveled the world as he grew, living in Japan, England, Germany, Hawaii and around the states.
All that life experience brought him to Santa Rosa as an architect. Working at Young America Homes, he met his wife, Donna. He worked at Sol and Palmer for a number of years before transitioning to 30 years of self employment. In addition to architecture, he also became a fixer of all things. The phrase, "Poppy will fix it!" commonly rang in the house. He loved working with his hands. This constant tinkering included culinary faire, home-brewing root beer for gatherings, gifts, or just to enjoy. He also experimented his way to award winning apple pies, a consistent holiday favorite.
His serving soul led to volunteering at church as an usher as well as in the AWANA ministry for 14 years. Known as Mr. Grumpy, he became many children's favorite volunteers as his portrayal of an over the top Grump was an ill-fitting mask over his generous and kind heart.
A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, he lived his faith through hospitality, service, and generosity, touching so many lives with his warm spirit and humor. It was his parting desire that people should come to find peace with the Savior to whom he entrusted his soul.
John is survived by his wife, Donna, children, Allison and Alex, son in law Nicolai and daughter in law Devin and six, soon to be seven, cherished grandchildren. His love for them was abounding, and he took pride in seeing them grow. He is also survived by his brother, Ted, and sisters, Charlotte, and Priscilla.
A service celebrating John's life was held at Calvary Chapel the Rock in Santa Rosa, CA on April 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM. John's legacy of faith, family, and traditions endures in the hearts of all who knew him.
